ABSTRACT
The article analyses the hypothesis that the main reason for the late appearance of the wheel for transportation is that there is no direct model in nature that humans could have copied. Therefore, the wheel is more of an abstract, engineering breakthrough than a biomimetic invention. In this study, we will see whether we can still recognise structures in nature that resemble wheels.
