ABSTRACT
Accurate prediction of cutting forces in sawing is essential to optimize the machining process efficien-cy, tool longevity and cut quality. The work exten-sively reviews numerous cutting-force modeling techniques, such as empirical, mechanistic, numeri-cal, and machine-learning models. Special attention is paid to the effects of tools used in woodworking and raw material properties. The studies also sug-gest a linear model that allows reliable prediction of forces encountered in jigsaw cutting under different energetic conditions. The results improve the accu-racy of the process of understanding sawing and enhance the effectiveness of tool use.
