ABSTRACT
A seven-step process is presented for the more accurate approximation of the arctic ice extent curve. The curve is very oscillating, therefore it is very difficult to approximate it. Linear approximation is not satisfactory, because it will show the very fast elimination of the arctic ice, maybe faster than the reality. The linear approximation ignores the effects of the global climate efforts too. The proposed approximation method is using sigmoid curve and gives a littlebit slower decrease of the ice extent. The presence of the inflexion point of the curve can describe the effects of the climate protection efforts and measures, too.
